What is the purpose of the study?

The study looks personality traits, and smoking cigarettes/e-cigarettes. The study is being carried out as part of a third-year undergraduate research dissertation.

 

What will happen to me if I take part?

You will be asked to fill out series of questionnaires, the study should take 10-15 minutes to complete.

 

Do I have to take part?

Participation is entirely voluntary. Anyone can take a part, but you should be between the ages of 18-25, and have used either cigarettes or e-cigarettes at some point during your life. If you decide to take part, you are still free to withdraw at any time and without giving a reason


What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?

There is no significant discomfort a result of taking part in this study. If you feel uncomfortable at any time during the study, you are free to withdraw.

 

What are the possible benefits of taking part?

There are no anticipated benefits to taking part in this study.

 
What if something goes wrong?

Will my taking part in this study be kept confidential?

All information which is collected about you during the course of the research will be kept strictly confidential. If you are a 1st year student, and are gathering credits through SONA then it is not fully confidential as I will need to identify your responses to reward you credits. 

 

What will happen to the results of the research study?

The results of the research will be written up as part of an undergraduate dissertation. The data will not be attached to you or identifiable in any way.

 

Who has reviewed the study?

The study has been reviewed by the Research Ethics Committee at Goldsmiths, University of London.
